Agfa’s SYNAPS brings leading synthetic media to Canon’s Media Ambassador Programme

Agfa’s SYNAPS synthetic media has been officially included in the Canon Media Ambassador Programme, reinforcing the collaboration between the two companies in advancing media performance for the visual communication (Viscom) market.

SYNAPS was included in the Canon Media Ambassador Programme following extensive performance testing in which it demonstrated excellent ink adhesion, consistent color density, and smooth running on roll-to-roll Canon Colorado systems.

Canon’s Media Ambassador Programme recognizes and promotes leading media partners whose products are extensively tested and optimized for Canon print systems. Through the program, print service providers (PSPs) can select trusted materials that deliver reliable, superior results on Canon production platforms.

The testing of SYNAPS validates SYNAPS for use with Canon’s Colorado series of large-format printers powered by UVgel inks. The inclusion ensures Colorado users can access a durable, visually striking, and sustainability-focused substrate designed to perform consistently across a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications.

SYNAPS is a high-performance synthetic paper engineered for print applications that demand long-term durability. Its polyester-based construction is tear-proof, water- and weather-resistant, and remains dimensionally stable even in the most demanding environmental conditions.

The media is designed to perform well with almost any printing technology, with its coated polyester base ensuring rapid curing, fast turnaround, and predictable results for Canon’s UVgel ink set.

This combination supports high production throughput and reduces reprints, helping PSPs meet tight delivery schedules while maintaining premium print quality.

Jolien Staring, Product Manager SYNAPS at Agfa, said: “The Canon Media Ambassador Programme is a fantastic platform to demonstrate what SYNAPS can do for the visual communication market. We see print providers under pressure to deliver more durable, high-impact work that’s often intended for demanding environments, without compromising sustainability.

“Our collaboration with Canon showcases how SYNAPS brings together the premium image quality, robust performance and circularity-minded design that modern media needs. We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Canon and to support their customers with media that is built to last and engineered for the future of sustainable print.”
